HSR America
HSR America is on the quest for carbon neutrality. Advances in electrification and autonomous vehicles are likely to help change the paradigm of our transportation system in the coming years and decades, bringing with it tremendous opportunities. The largest changes in the transportation industry in the past 100+ years are happening right now driven by innovation for a sustainable, equitable, transportation system. This is an incredible and exciting time for HSR America to be in this industry.
What We Are Tackling
HSR Traffic congestion in the US and around the world has been growing and has been a major problem for years. Out current "rapid transit" systems are not the solution. Our trains, buses, light rail, transport vans, etc. provide some relief but do not deliver passengers to their destination efficiently. Widening freeways and streets, adding carpool lanes, more buses on the road, and adding light rails is not a long-term solution. More cars, trucks, buses also generate more pollution and these traditional ideas cannot keep up with modern-day urban/suburban growth.
Greenhouse gas emissions from transportation account for about 28% of total US greenhouse gas emissions. As we work together to address the profound climate crisis, we must now explore how to transition to a low/no-carbon transportation system, that enables disadvantaged communities to gain access to mobility, job, and economic opportunity.
Getting It Right
Human impacts have led the World Health Organization to call climate change the greatest threat to global health in the 21st century.
However, the exact amount of warming that will occur in the next century depends largely on the energy choices we make now and in the coming years. Particularly since those choices directly influence how fast we put greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Getting it right is not just an investment in transportation or even in our economy, it's an investment in our environment, our health, and a brighter future.
